Steve Ryder BA MSc

Steve joined KSR in February 2012 as a health economist.  His role is to undertake and report high quality health care economic evaluations using decision analytic modeling.

Steve qualified as a health economist in 1984 and has worked as an NHS manager, research fellow and senior research fellow at York Health Economics Consortium and senior consultant and programme research director at CHKS (a health information benchmarking company). Steve has also worked as an economic advisor within the NHS Management Executive. He therefore has a breadth of experience working within the private and public sectors as well as several years in an academic environment. Throughout his career he has provided structured intelligence for improved decision making and this will continue to be his focus within Kleijnen Systematic Reviews.

Steve has had significant involvement in a number of national and regional evaluations over the years. These include a national evaluation of minor injury services, development of a regional methodology for prioritising capital schemes and specification of key metrics for management of diabetes and musculoskeletal services. In addition, he has developed a number of industry-standard approaches to decision support, notably quadrant analysis and inter-departmental relationship matrices, which are both techniques used to identify service improvement potential.
